José Hernán Quintero has been involved with coffee for as long as he can remember. His parents were Producers, so it was always a dream for him to carry on this legacy and grow coffee on his own farm.
In 2006, José received an invitation from the coffee growers committee to participate in the Cup of Excellence that was taking place in Bucaramanga, Colombia. After achieving 17th place, he participated once again in 2009 and reached 6th place. This motivated him to pay close attention to his coffee and focus solely on producing specialty coffee. Over the years, his focus has shifted towards producing honey processed coffee. He also plans to plant a wider range of traditional varieties.
José works at Finca La Pradera together with his wife and their son. His wife Nubia takes care of accounting and traceability for every lot, whilst his son carries out post-harvest processes. José is in charge of training and giving instructions to the workers and pickers. For José, what makes his farm special is how the family works together as a team to create some pretty special coffees.
