A washed Colombian coffee is a staple in any coffee lineup. Our latest Colombian coffee comes from Wbeimar Lasso's farm in the Huila department, a prolific coffee producing region in the southwest of the country. 

Wbeimar Lasso's coffee is sweet and beautifully balanced. With tasting notes of dried fruit, honey and figs upfront, it finishes on some tea-like notes with a caramel twist.

Single Origin Coffee Description

Huila is located in the Andean mountains, the growing conditions of the area are ideal for coffee production. With high altitudes, soil rich in volcanic ash and a range of temperatures suitable for coffee plants, it’s no wonder that some of the best coffees coming out of Colombia are from the Huila region.

Our coffee is grown by Wbeimar Lasso at Finca El Ensueño in Pitalito. The area lies in the south of Huila in the Magdalena Valley, where the Central and Eastern ranges of the Andes meet. The cherries were picked and hand sorted by Wbeimar and his wife, before being placed in water for 30 hours. The cherries are then pulped, washed and left to dry on raised beds until the moisture content is ideal.

Wbeimar has an exciting history with specialty coffee. He worked as a coffee taster for over eight years and was the first to win the Colombian Tasters Champion back in 2008. He now owns a specialty coffee company called Terra Coffee and produces his own coffee at Finca El Ensueño. Wbeimar also spends his time working alongside other Colombian coffee producers to assist them in developing their palates and recognising the potential their coffee has to offer.

Our green coffee partners, Cofinet, are importing Wbeimar Lasso’s coffee into Australia for the first time and we’re honoured to feature Wbeimar’s coffee in our offering.

The coffee itself is sweet and beautifully balanced. With tasting notes of dried fruit, honey and figs upfront, it finishes on some tea-like notes with a caramel twist.

This recipe is for espresso and developed on a commercial coffee machine. Use as a guide to achieve your desired flavour preference. If you are unable to reproduce the exact result on your home machine, don’t panic, an alternative is to simply adjust your recipe using the ratio so it works best for your set up.
