Natural-processed Guatemalan coffees are few and far between — and El Sol is a rare gem. Grown by the Vides family at Finca El Rincón in Huehuetenango, this lot brings together rich chocolate sweetness and stone fruit brightness in a way that’s distinctly satisfying. With tasting notes of orange, nougat, milk chocolate and plum, it delivers a sweet, coating mouthfeel that feels just like confectionary.

Finca El Rincón was established in 1958 by Dr. Jorge Vides, a full-time doctor who also founded the National Hospital of Huehuetenango and built a school on the farm for workers' families. Today, the farm is run by second and third-generation producers, who have shifted their focus to specialty production while maintaining a deep commitment to community and sustainability.
At 1,650 MASL in La Libertad, Huehuetenango, the farm produces traditional cultivars including San Ramón, Caturra and Bourbon. This natural lot begins with hand-harvested, ripe cherries that undergo a 24-hour pre-fermentation in sealed bags. At the mill, floaters are removed and cherries are screen sorted before being dried on patios for 14–17 days. In the early stages of drying, cherries are turned every two hours, then less frequently as moisture stabilises.
Finca El Rincón is Rainforest Alliance certified and structured around micro-lot management — with each section of the farm monitored for soil composition, shade, altitude and biodiversity. This allows the Vides family to consistently produce distinctive lots with clear, repeatable cup profiles.
Having taken out second place in the 2002 Cup of Excellence, the Vides family’s reputation continues to grow, and we’re proud to maintain a long-standing relationship with them.
