We’re proud to feature Burundi Gishubi for the third year running. Previously, we’ve selected the natural processed lot, but this season it was the washed lot that stood out on the cupping table with its clarity, sweetness, and layered character.
Alongside quality, this coffee carries a strong social impact: it’s part of our Good Coffee Doing Good program, reflecting Long Miles Coffee Project’s commitment to farmer livelihoods and community investment. $10 per kilo sold will be donated to Long Miles Coffee Project - find out more here.

Heza Washing Station, the second established by the Long Miles Coffee Project (LMCP), sits perched on steep hillsides of Kayanza Province. Water from a nearby natural spring powers a gravity-fed cascade system, guiding cherry through processing, before clean parchment is carefully dried on raised beds.
Through the washing station, LMCP works directly with 291 registered farmers from the Gishubi hill. Farmers deliver cherry on scheduled days, ensuring full traceability by hill and microregion. Unlike most processors in the country, LMCP keeps each lot separate until quality and processing are finalised, creating opportunities for unique microlots.
Farmers receive competitive prices, post-harvest premiums, and dedicated agronomy support from the Coffee Scouts, a LMCP project. The Coffee Scouts provide hands-on training in pruning, canopy management, pest control, and selective harvesting, helping to boost yields and quality while restoring long-term confidence in coffee as a sustainable livelihood.

Through the sales of Burundi Kayanza Gishubi, we’ve pledged A$5,000 to support the Coffee Scouts project. The funds will help continue the great work of the Coffee Scouts in their communities, bringing us better quality coffee for longer. Find out more about the project and how we’re supporting it here.
