This beautifully delicate washed Castillo comes to us from La Divisa, a family-run farm in Quindío’s highlands. With vibrant citrus and fruit notes – think lemon, pear, almond and grapefruit – this coffee stood out on the cupping table for its clarity and balance. Previously featured by Abstract before becoming part of the Padre family, Sebastian Gomez is a coffee we’re excited to share once again — now under our own banner.

La Divisa sits at 1,700 MASL in Circasia, Quindío, and has been farmed by the Gómez family since 1995. Today, it’s run by Sebastián Gómez and his father John, a seasoned coffee grower with more than 30 years’ experience. Shaded by native trees like Guamo, Guayacán and Nogal, the farm’s environment promotes biodiversity and stable growing conditions — a key factor in the consistency of their coffee.
This microlot is 100% Castillo, a cultivar prized for its rust resistance and strong productivity. What sets this lot apart is the careful attention to processing. Cherries are harvested at peak ripeness, floated and hand-sorted, then undergo a 30-hour underwater fermentation. After pulping and washing, the coffee is dried in temperature-controlled conditions, ensuring a clean and stable profile.
Since returning to Colombia in 2014, Sebastián has brought fresh ideas and energy to La Divisa. Drawing on experience overseas, he’s implemented controlled fermentations and begun experimenting with new varietals – all with a focus on showcasing the best of the region. His coffees strike a rare balance between vibrancy and elegance – and this washed lot is no exception.
